To use Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (MSIG) Singapore’s chatbot, you will need to head to the TravelEasy section of their official website. In the bottom right corner of the screen, you will see a chat bubble, which is MSIG Singapore’s chatbot, Mae. Once you open the chat bubble, Mae will introduce itself by giving a brief description. Before you can start asking the chatbot questions, Mae will ask you if you want to inquire about TravelEasy. As the design of the chatbot is for only this part of their services, saying no will end the conversation.

Once you confirm with the chatbot that your queries are on TravelEasy, the chatbot will ask you to go through the terms and conditions. If you agree with the terms and conditions of the chatbot, then you can start conversing with Mae.

The chatbot will ask you to pick from the following options:

  • How do I apply for travel insurance?
  • Which countries are covered?
  • How do I file a claim?

Let’s say that you want to know how to apply for travel insurance with MSIG Singapore. To ask this question, you have to select “one” from the chat screen. The chatbot will give you a detailed description on how to go about applying for travel insurance. In this case, the chatbot will give you a link to the online portal where you can fill in your details. Then, you will get an email with all the policy documents. You will also get a link where you can pay for the travel insurance with your credit or debit card.

If you want to find out which countries are covered by the travel insurance, you have to select the second option. The chatbot tells you all the details regarding travel insurance coverage. You will also get to know about the situations where MSIG Singapore will be unable to reimburse you. There is also another option where it gives you the list of travel areas. The chatbot divides the areas into three categories, A, B, and C.

The last popular option is to file a claim with the company. The chatbot will give you information on how to go through with this procedure. Mae will also give you advice on how to ensure that MSIG Singapore doesn’t reject your travel insurance claims. For example, you should always attach your documents and claim reference number when submitting the form to the company.

If your questions are out of the list, then you can talk to the chatbot and ask your query. The best feature about this chatbot is that it displays the topics as soon as you enter a letter. For example, when you type “c”, the chatbot will show the following – Maximum length of coverage, the definition of child, travel insurance for the child, and family cover vs. group cover. The chatbot has the capability to answer all types of travel insurance queries.

Let’s say that you want to know about all the documents you need when filing a claim with MSIG Singapore. The chatbot will give you a link, which redirects you to another page, giving you all the necessary details.

When you ask the chatbot about family assistance benefit, Mae will give you a detailed answer. According to the chatbot, MSIG Singapore will provide cover as long as the accident takes place within 12 months.

Another great feature about this chatbot is that you can provide feedback, every time it gives you an answer. For example, the above answer to family assistance benefit will come with a “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” icon. If you are satisfied with the answer, you can hit the “thumbs up” icon. Also, if the chatbot is unable to provide an answer or understand your query, you can ask it to hand the conversation over to a customer service representative.
